This Giveaway is done by SaraLee's Deals Steals & Giveaways

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to review the SodaStream Genesis kit and I can say that my family likes it. I was surprised at how fast the shipping was and how everything was packed. The SodaStream was very easy to put together and use. I liked the Cola flavor and my son likes the orange & root beer flavors while hubby likes the tea and water flavors. This really does have something for everyone. I like how you can carbonate the beverage to your liking. Plus the best part is you can add as much syrup you like for your tasting.
This is before I took the SodaStream Genesis out of the box.
This after we made our first bottle of Root Beer. Very easy to do.

From Monster to Sweetheart.........in 2.3 seconds flat!

My son, Jaden, is overall a sweet little 4 year old, but he can be a monster! He is very strong-willed and if I say the sky is blue, he'll say it's green! He has a wonderful imagination! The other day, he wanted to play "Lemonade Stand" with me. He set up a box in his room and I was supposed to be the customer. For a lemonade stand, he sure did offer quite a few items! LOL There was lemonade(of course), cookies, brownies, lollipops, sandwiches, and chips! And he made them all right there in his play kitchen! Bad thing was, I had to pay for my "food" with real change! That's my little entrepreneur! Then one day last week, he told me that I was a princess (that's true! LOL) and he was a dragon! So he was trying to get to me in my tower, and then he changed from the dragon to a prince who was going to save me! I played along of course, I always do.

The thing that always amazes me is how Jaden can turn from monster to sweetheart so quickly. One minute, he will be running through the house tearing up everything in sight, and the next minute he will be cuddling with me on the couch. He is always so appreciative of everything he gets, a trait I've instilled in him since birth really. Yesterday, while he was at storytime, I went to Walmart and bought him some new socks and a flag tshirt for 4th of July. I also bought myself a matching flag tshirt so we would match! When he got home and I showed him his new socks and tshirt, he started jumping up and down yelling "OH THANK YOU MOMMY!" with tears in his eyes! All over some socks and a tshirt! He hugged and thanked me several times yesterday for that purchase. What a cutie! It makes me proud that he has such good manners. I have to say that I love this little guy more than life itself and I can't imagine life without him!

I love you Bobo!
Love, Mommy

I'd love to hear some of your stories about your children! Sweet stories, funny stories, ones where you could have pulled your hair out! Leave them in the comments section for me! I would love to read them all!

Until next time,

Swimming Pool Safety for Summer!

It's summer again! Time for outdoor fun, swimming and cookouts! Unfortunately, drowning is the #1 cause of death in children ages 1-4. If you have a swimming pool or you plan to take your children swimming this summer, here are some facts you need to be aware of: (I found these facts on The Mommyhood Chronicles Blog)

  • Drowning is the leading cause of injury deaths for children in the US between the ages of 1 and 4.
  • Children in that age group have the highest rates of both fatal and non-fatal drowning, with half of all fatal incidents occurring in swimming pools.
  • Analyzing national death and accident records from 2005-2009, the CDC report found that, on average, 3,880 people annually die in the US due to drowning.
  • An estimated 5,790 people were treated in hospital emergency rooms for non-fatal drowning.
  • The drowning death rate among men was 4 times higher than that of women, the study also found.
  • Overall, drowning rates have dropped in the last decade and that's a good sign that prevention efforts are working, but that's not a reason to let your guard down, especially when it comes to our kids.
For me, pool safety is a must because my 4 year old, Jaden, doesn't have a fear of water. He never has. Ever since he was a baby, he wasn't afraid to put his head under the water and would just jump in any pool even if there was nobody there to catch him! I will be signing Jaden up for swimming lessons this summer. My community offers swimming lessons at 2 different places. The community pool at the park, and our local YMCA. Check with places in your town for swimming lessons for your children. It's usually not that expensive but really you can't put a price on your child's safety.

Here are some additional tips to prevent a drowning accident: (These tips are according to Philadelphia Attorney Ross Feller Casey.)
  • Parents and children should learn survival swimming skills.
  • Environmental protectors, such as isolation pool fences and lifeguards, should be in place.
  • Alcohol should be avoided while swimming, boating, water skiing, or supervising children.
  • Lifejackets should be used by all boaters and weaker swimmers.
  • Caregivers and Supervisors should have CPR training.
With summer here and the sun blazing down in the hottest temperatures we've had in years, I urge us as parents, to be very careful with our kids around pools. Pools can be a great place for fun for our children and with some basic pool safety we can achieve a great summer! So have fun and BE SAFE!

Until next time,
